Between the sprinklers, constant wash, garden hoses and pools your plumbing system gets a big workout during the summer months. There are several things you can do to keep your plumbing system in good shape. We have complied a list of tips that will save you time and money.
- Be sure to check your washing machine hoses for any leaks, cracks or bulges. A broken washing machine hose can leave really bad results behind in your home, while wasting tons of water and flooding. Be proactive and check in advance to avoid any issues.
- Be careful what you put down your garbage disposal after a cookout. Stringy foods like cornhusks, celery and banana peels can cause major clogs. Also, avoid putting excessive grease or oils down the drain as the oil will solidify causing a clog as well. Keep a trash can close by to dispose of all of the left overs.
- Inspect your sewer lines for cracks. Cracks in a sewer line can cause major backups. Tree roots can also cause sewer backup issues. The roots grow towards the sewer line as a source of nutrition. It is important to have a plumber inspect your sewer line to identify any issues. We can help determine the best treatment option for proper drain clearing.
- Check your home for leaks. Check faucets, toilets, showerheads and other fixtures for leaks. Common places to look are inside cabinets under sinks or around toilets. Leaks are one of the most common issues for wasting water. A small drip can waste up to 50 gallons of water a week. Not to mention raising the cost in you your utility bills. No one wants that, check these places to avoid having this issue in the first place.
